Who We Are

 

We are a faith community LIVING fully and deeply in Christ's love, LEADING others towards God's grace and freedom, and FLOURISHING beside all Jesus-followers as we work to see our neighborhoods blessed - all to honor the name of our God. 

 

Living fully and deeply in Christ's love is about the inward spiritual life we have in Jesus.  It begins in a personal and individual call to regularly meet with Jesus in quiet times and enjoy the richness of time-tested spiritual disciplines, including scripture reading, reflection, silence, fasting and prayer, and reading Christian authors.  The inward life is the first place the Spirit of God works in leading us out toward a flourishing life.

 

Leading others to God's grace and freedom is the call from Jesus we have to go out into the world.  It is our outward work.  As we go, we carry the good news (gospel) of Jesus, that in him people can discover the fullness of God's grace and freedom.  Grace is the favor of God upon people, his gift to give.  And freedom speaks to the unfettered life a person can find in the abundance of God's peace and mercy and justice.  We actively engage our community and world by carrying God's grace and freedom out toward others, 

 

Flourishing is the destination we seek, life, both individual and communal, blessed by God.  Through the upward focus of our church, we "seek the peace" of our neighborhood, the places in which to live together, and we uphold the value of every neighbor.  The flourishing life that we seek, then, is a shared journey with all Jesus-followers and willing partners in the work to bring about a world where God's glory dwells and shines.
